We’ve reached another exciting milestone in the redevelopment of the Mailbox, as our brand new roof has been installed! Following your feedback, the sky-lit glass roof has been built to protect you from the unpredictable British weather, creating a light and airy setting for you as we move a step closer to completion ahead of the exciting re-launch in Spring 2015.

The redevelopment is in full swing, and we’re delighted to reveal that over 70% of our retail units have now been let or are in final negotiations ahead of our Spring launch. Amongst those confirmed is Hugo Boss, which is the latest luxury fashion brand to commit to the re-launched Mailbox. The new 3,000 sq ft store follows in the footsteps of Emporio Armani, LK Bennett, Jaeger and Gieves and Hawkes and will open next year.

The Mailbox will reopen its doors to the retail side in Spring 2015. We look forward to welcoming new stores and of course the highly anticipated, new, flagship Harvey Nichols. Relocated in the heart of the scheme, it promises to offer the most discerning shopper the best luxury brands and a unique shopping experience. Watch this space for further announcements in the coming months.

From 2nd June, the access to our luxury store flagship store Harvey Nichols will be temporarily changing, as part of the Mailbox refurbishment programme.

As we build you a better Mailbox and a brand new Harvey Nichols store, the usual front entrance will be closing and access to store will be via the Royal Mail lift or staircase situated at the front of the Mailbox next to Malmaison.

Please enter through the walkway alongside the car park and follow the signs up to Level 2.

Forget what you thought you knew about Birmingham and the Mailbox. Under new ownership, bold plans have taken shape that will radically transform its built environment and its identity. The ultimate luxury shopping experience is coming to the Mailbox.

Few cities match Birmingham’s pace of change. The transformation is particularly evident on the west side. Here, within a few minutes’ walk of the Mailbox, landmark projects including the redevelopment of New Street Station, a refurbished National Indoor Arena and the Library of Birmingham, will open their doors by 2015.

The combined allure of John Lewis, opening at Grand Central in 2014, and the newly redeveloped Mailbox, home to the city’s only collection of luxury retailers, will realign Birmingham’s retail core.

The Mailbox will be the sole sanctuary for Birmingham’s wealthiest shoppers. For the first time, their desire to combine understated luxury with an exclusive customer experience will be met in a single retail destination.

Birmingham currently draws an affluent audience wider than its primary catchment, to attractions such as Symphony Hall, the Hippodrome, the LG Arena, the National Indoor Arena and the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. The right retail offer will provide even more reasons to visit.

In focus groups, our customers told us of their hopes and expectations for the Mailbox

“The new John Lewis will attract many more of The Mailbox’s shoppers to the city and will help drive the focus of the city’s retailing closer to The Mailbox”

“Siting luxury stores elsewhere in the city doesn’t make sense – The Mailbox is the natural place for these sorts of shops”

“The Mailbox needs to provide a balance of more upmarket stores as the mainstream brands are elsewhere in Birmingham”
