INTRODUCING GIEVES & HAWKES’ NEW CUTTING EDGE MADE-TO-MEASURE SERVICE
Posted on May 3, 2019 by Alex Perrins
This spring, Gieves & Hawkes is relaunching its made-to-measure tailoring programme with a new state of the art service.
Designed to offer clients the ultimate in made-to-measure suiting, outerwear and formalwear, the service showcases a new house look, an enhanced design and fitting process, and an exclusive range of tailoring fabrics for customers to choose from.
A made-to-measure suit is a modern menswear luxury. Clients visit No.1 Savile Row or one
Gieves & Hawkes’ regional stores to have a suit made using a unique fitting block and up to
35 different measurements. The process is designed to create a suit shaped to the customer’s body using traditional tailoring techniques for a superior fit. Clients also work with the company’s
Made-to-Measure Tailoring Consultants on the design of their suit. The service offers complete flexibility; whether single or double-breasted, notched or peaked lapels, lined or half-lined jackets, and flat-front or pleated trousers – the options to make a suit your own are extensive.
“Our fitting blocks have been completely redeveloped,” explains Gieves & Hawkes’s Creative Director, John Harrison. “We’ve kept the blocks true to our house style, but they are now more contemporary and offer an enhanced fit – well suited to today’s stylish, international man.” With well-balanced lapels, sharply cut shoulders, an elegant waisted silhouette and a subtly longer jacket length, Gieves & Hawkes’s made-to-measure tailoring delivers everything a modern Savile Row suit should.
Alongside these new blocks, which minimise the need for alterations once a suit has been delivered, Gieves & Hawkes has also reinvented the made-to-measure experience for clients.
Now, made-to-measure suits use a three-tier system, and can be made in one of three workshops that share longstanding relationships with Gieves & Hawkes. The house’s Tailoring Consultants can suggest the appropriate workshop for each individual customer’s needs.
Gieves & Hawkes has also created a focused edit of 16 fabric collections for made-to-measure clients to choose from – including all Gieves’ house favourites. These cover everything from overcoating cloths to lightweight or winter-weight suitings, jacketings, and fabrics for formalwear. These will be complemented by seasonal exclusive additions, introduced at the start of each Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter season.
A made-to-measure suit is the perfect choice for a special occasion, and with the summer season fast approaching, the Gieves & Hawkes design team has created a series of made-to-measure full looks designed to take the Gieves man everywhere from Royal Ascot, to Henley Regatta or Wimbledon in fine style. From a sleek half-lined seersucker suit, to an immaculate three-piece morning suit with a linen waistcoat, these looks demonstrate just what can be achieved with this new made-to-measure programme. Each outfit has been photographed in and around Mayfair, for a new seasonal made-to-measure look book.
With a turnaround time of just six to eight weeks, Gieves & Hawkes Made-To-Measure combines the house’s British tailoring expertise with superior quality, modern service and styling. It’s the perfect solution to dress the Gieves man for each and every special moment this summer.
