Birmingham Wine Weekend is set to be a corker when it debuts this spring, and with the first 18 venues confirmed, the festival looks to be an oenophile’s dream. Aimed at novices, connoisseurs and everyone in between, venues across the city will be showcasing their favourite vines from 23-25 March 2018.

Birmingham Wine Weekend has bagged a number of venues from the Mailbox, including Malmaison, Tom’s Kitchen, Harvey Nichols, and AC Birmingham Hotel.

Marco Pierre White and Bardolino in The Cube will join The Canal House in providing the perfect canal-side locations to discover new wines, hand-selected by each venue.

The award-winning Hotel du Vin is hosting the Birmingham Wine Weekend Hub where wine lovers will collect their wristbands before setting off to explore the city. Like all participating venues, the hotel will select two wines – a white, red and/or sparkling – on offer to wristband wearers for just £4 for the duration of the long weekend.

Much like its sister festival, Birmingham Cocktail Weekend, Birmingham Wine Weekend is all about discovering different venues as part of a city wide journey and is set to be an intimate festival giving lucky wristband wearers an exclusive journey of discovery through different wines and different venues. The three-day festival will showcase the best wine lists in Birmingham, with hand-picked venues offering two specially selected wines that will give festival goers the chance to discover something new.

Wine lovers can purchase a £10 wristband online to get access to £4 taster glasses at each venue, as well as a handful of themed events.

We asked the cocktail pros at Gas Street Social to tell us their favourite tipple.

They went one better and made it for us!

The Winter Berry Mojito:


25ml of rum

15ml of lemon juice

25ml of spiced berry cordial

Fresh mint

Crushed ice

Splash of soda


Measure out 25ml of rum and add the lemon juice and cordial.

Fill three-quarters of the glass with crushed ice and fresh mint and muddle until mixed.

Top with soda and garnish with mint and cinnamon sticks.
