Valentine’s Day at the Mailbox
Posted on January 19, 2017
If, like us, the way to your heart is via your stomach, then we’ve got your guide to the Mailbox bars and restaurants we think you’ll love this Valentine’s Day. So whether it’s a romantic meal for two, or an anti-Valentine’s meal with your closest friends, where will you be spending the most romantic day of the year?
If you’re looking for some Valentine’s Day brownie points, then look no further than Tom’s Kitchen Birmingham. Having opened in late December, the brand new restaurant is the stunning new addition to the Urban Room, and it’s certainly sharing the love for its very first Valentine’s Day.
The special sharing menu is available for dinner on Tuesday 14th February, alongside the popular a la carte menu, and you can expect to find a delicious Cumbrian Chateaubriand Steak with truffled triple cooked chips and a sharing dessert board on the menu. Paired with a fantastic drinks menu, and some of the friendliest staff around, we’re sure your other half will feel well and truly treated at Tom’s Kitchen.
One of our favourite picks for date night, nothing says romance like cuddling up on the sofa to watch a classic romantic film; Dirty Dancing. Celebrating the film’s 30th anniversary, nobody is putting Baby in the corner this Valentine’s Day with a screening at Everyman Cinema Mailbox at 9.15pm. Head there for a bite to eat first too, and be sure to try some gourmet cinema snacks, all washed down with a tempting drinks menu too.
With more films set to be announced for Valentine’s Day on Monday 6th February, make sure you check the website to see which latest releases will be showing too!
Harvey Nichols Restaurant
Pucker up this Valentine’s Day and feel the love with a special menu at Harvey Nichols. Served in the store’s elegant restaurant, the three-course dinner is available from 6pm on Tuesday February 14. Priced at £30 per head, the menu has been created by Head Chef Mark Walsh to ensure diners celebrate the most romantic day of the year in style.
Sip on a Chambord Royale as you tuck into duck parfait with cherries, Torbay sole with pink fir potatoes and a chive broth, or Chateaubriand to share. Then move on to a delicious lychee parfait with a raspberry ripple ice cream or an assiette of chocolate for dessert.
Make your date even more special and spoil your loved one with a bespoke gift from one of the luxury beauty counters or fashion brands, which can then be delivered straight to your table if pre-arranged.
Paris is known for being the city of love, and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree for French restaurant, Café Rouge. There will be plenty of ‘amour’ in the room, as you can enjoy three courses, plus a glass of fizz, for just £24.95 per person. Available from 10th – 14th February, expect steak frites, poulet Breton and a rum baba for dessert.
Italian food? Now that’s amore this Valentine’s Day. Strada will be serving up a set menu of freshly prepared Italian favourites, including crab linguine or mushroom tortelloni, plus sharing is caring with its trio of classic desserts for two.
